Psychiatrist at Inter-Being Amsterdam

I went to medical school in Amsterdam alongside studying jazz piano at the Amsterdam Conservatory, my other professional love. Music then took me abroad for three years as I pursued a degree at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York. Still, practicing medicine never lost its draw and I returned home to continue into psychiatry while staying active as a musician.

During my psychiatry residencies my interest in psychotherapy was sparked which would turn out to be the start of an ongoing venture into psychotherapy, working both as a group therapist and individually in settings ranging from hospitals to clinical psychotherapy. Specialized training has included advanced group dynamics and MBT training at the Anna Freud Institute in London.

My view on psychiatry and therapy in general is that things rarely allow for too much simplification and are often interwoven. That also applies to the intricacies of psychological and biological sides of many mental issues. My aim is always to get as much of a holistic view on a client to then go more in depth. Lastly, I am a firm believer in the importance of a continued working relationship between a client and a therapist as the foundation to build from, as is the philosophy at Inter Being.
